Our Keystone Foundry Division Creates Custom Patterns For Your Casting Needs
Casting patterns are essential to ensure your castings meet precise dimensions and functional requirements.
Casting begins by pouring sand into a mold box and then inserting the pattern to press the sand into the desired shape. A less-than-perfect pattern drastically decreases the quality and functionality of the end product.
Our team has extensive experience creating precise patterns and is known for meeting the needs of Original Equipment Manufacturers in various high-demand industries.
Common types of patterns our team can create for you:
- Single-Piece Pattern: These patterns are the least expensive to develop, but they can have some limitations because they are made from a single piece of pattern material.
- Split or Two-Piece Pattern: Complex designs are more easily created by using multiple pieces and connecting them before casting. Once connected, the pieces are attached with pins or other clasps.
- Cope and Drag Patterns: These two-part patterns are common in sand casting. The top and bottom halves are mounted onto separate match plates. The two separate parts are combined to create the desired opening.
- Matchplate Pattern: In this pattern style, two components are mounted on the opposite side of a match plate that runs through the pattern’s center. These are often used for mass production.
- Gated Pattern: This allows you to create several different pieces simultaneously from a single mold by using gates, runners, risers, and sprues to control the flow of molten metal and air.
- Loose Piece Pattern: These are used when a two-part pattern cannot be used because it would be impossible to remove from the casted material.
- Sweep Pattern: This pattern is attached to a rotating post and sweeps through the material to create the desired shape. It is often used in wheels and circular shapes.
- Skeleton Pattern: Simple wooden frames that outline the shape of the part to be cast are commonly used to create a large, simply shaped component.
No matter what pattern best suits your product, our patterns are custom-made in-house, reducing delivery time and ensuring the patterns meet your exact specifications.
