Lift Check Valves
A Reliable Way to Prevent Backflow
The lift check valve is an example of a simple mechanical design that is genius in its simplicity. For certain jobs, nothing works better. The lift check valve prevents reverse flow by means of a suspended disk that is pushed out of the way by forward flow, but is forced closed against a seat if reverse flow occurs. It’s a non-return valve that permits fluid flow in one direction but prevents it from flowing backward.Â
This valve’s body is similar to that of a globe valve, except it features a disc and seat instead of the traditional stem and top works. When the flow stops or reverses, the disc drops into its designated seat for sealing purposes. It does this by raising up an internal disc or ball component that allows fluid passage only in one direction, then dropping back down when the flow changes direction.Â
Versatile Uses and InstallationÂ
While lift check valves are typically used in high-flow systems, they often feature an equalizer pipe between the valve and downstream piping to help the disc open when the flow is low. Often a spring is installed above the disc, which provides extra closure force when it returns to its closed position. These are called spring loaded lift check valves.Â
Unlike a lot of other valves, these can be installed either horizontally and vertically. They are installed in a pipe system using threads at both the outlet and port, increasing their strength while preventing fluid leakage.Â
Reliable and Durable
United Brass Works’ lift check valve has everything you want in a valve: a reliable structure, excellent sealing, and long service life. We construct lift check valves out of metal, plastic, or stainless steel, and we design the seat so that it provides a tight shut-off. This durable valve is an excellent option for stopping all types of media from backing up into the chamber.
Lift check valves are often employed in piping systems with high turbulence levels, as well as those with low-pressure levels. They’re commonly used in water, gas, and steam applications to guarantee consistency of fluid direction. They have high-pressure capabilities and can withstand extreme temperatures without leakage risk.
United Brass Works offer a variety of types and sizes to suit specific fluids and systems. Some are specifically designed for high-pressure applications where flow velocity must be kept high, such as air, gas, or steam services.
Lift check valves are extremely reliable and versatile. United Brass Works’ lift check valves are easy to install, replace and maintain, making them an ideal choice for many industrial processes.
