Core Making

UBW’s Keystone Foundry Division Creates Custom Cores For Your Casting Needs

High-quality cores are essential to ensure your castings meet precise dimensions and functional requirements. United Brass Works’ Keystone Foundry Division uses advanced core-making techniques to produce cores and castings that meet the highest standards in the Original Equipment Manufacturers’ market.

Keystone’s core-making capabilities include both shell and cold-cure processes.

Shell cores are baked at 400° F, and the cold-cure process uses CO2 to cure them. Shell core boxes are typically made from malleable iron or steel, while CO2 boxes can be metal or plastic. Shell cores are used for medium—to high-volume jobs, while CO2 cores are typically used for low-volume jobs.

After the cores are produced, they are cleaned to remove any flash and stored until needed.

Cores are essential for creating complex designs that cannot be achieved with a basic pattern and for creating open spaces inside the finished product.

We make cores for our custom brass and bronze casting jobs in-house, saving you time and money. In-house design means you’ll benefit from working with the UBW team you trust, from core design to prototype to full production runs.
