Boiler Gauge Fixtures
A boiler gauge fixture set is a group of components used to view the water level in a boiler. It is also known as a boiler level gauge, sight, or visual glass. The indicator directly indicates the boiler’s water level and can be mounted directly on the boiler or a water column. A boiler gauge is one of the best ways to effectively monitor the water level inside a boiler, steamer, or condensation tank.Â
Why a boiler gauge fixture is necessary
A boiler pressure gauge measures the water level and pressure in a boiler. When water heats up, it expands rapidly and occupies a larger space. If left unchecked, this could cause serious problems.Â
Get just the fixture or the whole set.
You can buy just the fixture or set at United Brass Works. Almost everyone orders the set. Our model 34041, 900S and 900Q water gauge fixture sets included upper and lower glass valves with rising stems, aluminum hand wheel, and ball checks to prevent leakage should the glass break. These sets comply with the ASME boiler code for applications on steam boilers. These water gauge valves are cast from ASTM B62 bronze alloy with stainless steel internal ball check construction for automatic shut-off.Â
A sight glass is often installed with the boiler gauge fixture set, but this is not part of the set, so you may want to ask us about that. We can let you know if you need one for your application. If you install a sight glass, the lowest visible part of the glass should be at least 1–2 inches above the lowest permissible water level.
